DIY Mardi Gras Cone Door Decor

This Mardi Gras season, we’re excited to share a stunning creation by our talented floral designer, Tim. He’s brought a festive twist to our collection with a dazzling Mardi Gras Cone Door Decor, showcasing our glitter-striped Mardi Gras cone in all its vibrant glory. With its rich blend of purple, green, and gold hues, this eye-catching design is a perfect way to welcome guests in true Mardi Gras style. Tim’s artistry and attention to detail have transformed this simple cone into a stunning, lively piece that captures the spirit of celebration and joy, making it an ideal addition to your seasonal decor! You can create one of your very own using the steps and supplies listed below

Supplies needed:

  • First things first, make sure you have gathered all of the necessary supplies

  • Tim started off this piece by cutting a horseshoe piece out of the back of the Glitter Cone at the base. Tim is turning the cone upside down and then cutting from the bottom up.

  • Tim then began to add the florals. He inserted them into the exposed styrofoam using the uncut side as the front of the piece. He used one of the Glitter Fern sprays to create the base or foundation of the florals and then added in all of the different stems throughout.

  • Tim then filled in the top of the Cone with the remaining stems.

  • He tied a 3 loop bow using both of the Mardi Gras ribbons. He layered them together and then separated the loops once the bow was tied with floral wire. He left the tails longer with the Metallic Fleur de Lis Ribbon and he attached the bow to the cone using floral wire.

  • He added the last floral pick to the front of the cone just above the bow to create a focal point with the Fleur de Lis pick.

  • Lastly, Tim created a loop to hang the cone from using one of the pieces of floral stem that had been cut off. He used hot glue to insert both ends of the stem into the styrofoam. He also used additional ribbon to cover up the exposed styrofoam on the back of the cone.

  • When you are finished you will have a unique door decor piece to use throughout the Mardi Gras season.
