DIY XL Yellow Rose Spring Memorial Saddle

DIY XL Yellow Rose Spring Memorial Saddle
This week, we’re excited to feature something truly special on the blog—our XL Yellow Rose Spring Memorial Saddle, a stunning creation handcrafted by our talented floral designer, Susan. This breathtaking arrangement is about twice the size of a standard memorial saddle, measures approximately 36"l x 24"w, making it a bold and beautiful tribute that’s impossible to miss. Overflowing with vibrant yellow roses, seasonal greenery, and delicate accents, it’s designed to honor loved ones with both elegance and impact. Follow along below, to learn how you can create one of your very own. This design can be recreated with any combination of florals; the colors can be changed to fit any preference.
Supplies needed:
- (1) Cemetery Saddle Casket Piece Frame
- (1) Floral Styrofoam Block 2"x 6"x 12"
- (6) 18" Pink & Yellow Mixed Floral Bush
- (4) Silk Leather Leaf Bush
- Hot Glue
- Wire Cutters
- To get started, make sure you have gathered all of the necessary supplies.
- Susan started this Saddle by attaching the Styrofoam to the Saddle Frame. You will want to push the Styrofoam down onto the prongs of the Saddle Frame. You can also add a bit of Hot Glue to each prong before placing the Styrofoam. Susan then cut 2 bundles of the Leather Leaf Fern apart into individual sections. The Leather Leaf Fern is used to make a skirt for the Saddle. She added pieces to each side of the Styrofoam in two different layers. She then added a few pieces to the top of the Styrofoam also.

- Once all of the Leather Leaf Fern had been added, Susan moved onto adding the Florals. She cut all of the Bushes apart into individual sections and then separated the flowers so that each type were together. She worked with the Yellow Roses first. She added the Yellow Roses to each side of the Saddle and then moved to the top of the Saddle. She spaced them out evenly throughout the Saddle and she added Hot Glue to the end of every stem before placing it in the Styrofoam.
- When all of the Yellow Roses had been added Susan moved on to the Light Pink Roses. She used the same process as with the Yellow Roses, she added them to each side and then to the top.
- Once those had been added she moved on to the Bright Pink Flowers and Pink Filler Buds. She also used the same process for these. She added them to all sides and then the top. She also filled in any holes that were visible as she worked her way around the Saddle.
- Lastly, Susan used the remaining Leather Leaf Fern to fill in any additional holes in the Saddle. You can use as little or as much of this as you would like. When you are finished you will have a stunning Memorial Saddle to honor your loved ones with.
