DIY Patriotic Memorial Cross
This week on the Blog our Floral Designer Tim created a lovely Memorial Cross that is perfect for honoring your loved ones. We created this one in a Patriotic theme for Memorial Day, but any these steps could be applied to any season. You can create one of your very own using the steps and supplies listed below.
Supplies needed:
- (1) 24" Moss & Angel Vine Cross
- (1)17" UV Protected Leather Leaf Fern Greenery Bush
- (1) 28.7" Cream Rose Floral Spray
- (2) 24" Classic Red Rose Stem
- (1) 2.5" Patriotic Star & Check Ribbon
- (1) 27" Variegated Ivy Spray
- Hot Glue
- Wire Cutters
- Floral Wire
- (1) 24" Wire Easel (optional)
- To get started make sure you have gathered all the necessary supplies
- Tim got started by cutting individual pieces off of the Fern Bush. He then created a base layer in the center of the cross.
- Once the base layer was created Tim began tying the small 3 loop bow out of the Patriotic Ribbon that was chosen. He secured the bow with floral wire and then used that wire to attach the bow to the cross.
- Next Tim began adding the Red & White Roses. He cut each into a smaller section and then used hot glue to secure them to the cross. He spread them out across the entire cross on either side of the bow.
- To finish off this piece Tim added a few sprigs of the Variegated Ivy and a few more pieces of fern.
- When you are finished you will have a lovely Memorial Cross that you can be used either as a door hanger or at the cemetery. We do recommend buying the 24" Wire Easel if you plan on putting it at the cemetery. The cross can be attached to the easel with floral wire.
